VILLAGE GARDEN PARTY – MOUNT STREET GARDENS - Monday 28th June 2010
The sun was shining; canapés created; rum cocktails mixing; wines uncorked; tombola, raffle and restaurant tree prizes awaiting their new owners; the band on high alert and Mount Street Gardens was set for another bright Mayfair event.
Guests were entertained by Dick Laurie’s Elastic Band, the Shake’n’Bake Girls and MC Neil Drinkwater Wilton’s Oyster & Chablis Bar staff was under siege throughout as was the wonderfully exotic Blackwell’s Rum Cocktail Bar. The RSMSJ Wine Bar, Knight Frank Shaken & Stirred Bar and Campari Mojitos offered guests even more refreshment choices.
We cannot put on such an event without support and we thank Grosvenor for stepping in to offer much-needed financial help. Many others were involved, but particularly we should like to thank Truc Vert, the Dorchester, InterContinental, Grosvenor House and Millennium Mayfair hotels for the canapés; the Connaught for the Champagne; Island Outpost for the two-day spa prize at Strawberry Hill in Jamaica, Christian Furr’s Artist Proof and all the companies who donated goods, services and prizes; some with a little nudge from Annie McKale of the Millennium Mayfair.
We enjoyed the mini art exhibition organised by Go Figurative. (Stuart McAlpine Miller’s exhibition is showing until October in Grosvenor Street). The Smash&Grab team excelled in their presentation and we were pleased and delighted to see all our empty bottles reduced to a fraction of their usual volume and spirited away!
We try to keep disruption to the minimum for the many occupants around Mount Street Gardens and are happy to report we were generously assisted by Canon Mark Oatley and Lis Hasted of Grosvenor Chapel, Father Pearsall of Farm Street Church and all the staff at the Mayfair Library. We thank them all and everyone involved in making this event happen.
